The Many Lives of Benjaman Kyle · S1E1

A Slow Start That Should've Been Much Shorter

Summary — Mostly a drag with very slow pacing; the ending was the only part that made the story feel like it was getting somewhere.

I thought the first episode of The Many Lives of Benjamin Kyle was mostly a drag. The central mystery is interesting enough, but the episode spends far too much time circling around information without really moving the story forward. For most of the runtime, it felt like a whole lot of nothing happened.

The ending was the only part that grabbed my attention because it finally felt like the story was getting somewhere. My biggest complaint is the pacing. Everything interesting in this episode could have been condensed into a much shorter runtime—something closer to 7 minutes than a full episode. As it stands, the buildup wasn't compelling enough to justify how long it took to reach the interesting part.
