Summary — A worthy sequel that delivers exactly what you want — more of the same chaotic fun with the whole crew back together.
The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is everything I wanted from a sequel. The whole gang is back — Reynolds, Jackson, and this time Salma Hayek gets to really shine with a much bigger role. She was a great addition and brought so much energy to the mix.
Is the story any good? Not really, and honestly who cares. That's not what you're here for. You're here for the banter, the over-the-top action, and watching these three play off each other. On that front, it completely delivers. Antonio Banderas as the villain was a pretty cool choice too.
What made me happiest was that the action and comedy were right on par with the first one. No drop-off, no phoning it in — just more of what worked. If you liked the original, this is an easy watch. It's the same formula and I mean that as a compliment.
