Summary — A frustrating heist movie where the entire plan feels unbelievable, the characters are hard to care about, and the ending is more annoying than satisfying.
Spoilers ahead.
I thought Fuze was pretty bad. I’m tired of heist movies where the whole thing depends on a plan that makes no sense, and this one was a perfect example. The plan was basically to draw every cop in the city or region to one spot, and then rob a bank at that exact same spot. How does that make any sense?
I get that stupid people make stupid plans in real life, so maybe that makes it “realistic” in some way, but it did not make the movie more interesting for me. I wanted a good plot. I wanted a smart heist. Instead, every part of the setup felt dumb, from the betrayals and money-splitting drama to the actual mechanics of the robbery.
The safe entrance especially annoyed me. They cut through what looked like three feet of steel with a grinder, and then there’s a battery in some garbage that is somehow supposed to power a mechanism strong enough to drill through all that steel. None of it felt believable, and since that was basically the first part of the plan, the movie lost me early.
The ending was frustrating too, mostly because I hated almost every character. There was maybe one decent character, the soldier trying to fight for the truth while his commander was evil, but that wasn’t enough. A bunch of bad people win in different ways, a bunch of coincidences happen, and none of it felt satisfying.
Overall, Fuze was stupid, the plan was stupid, and I didn’t like it. Two out of five stars.
