Summary — A classic Adventure Time adventure where even all the waiting works, with a fun cliffhanger and a great late twist.
I thought this was a really good episode. I like it when Adventure Time goes on a good classic adventure, and this felt like one of those—even though a surprising amount of the adventure was just waiting in line. Somehow I was fine with that because the waiting felt like part of the adventure rather than something getting in the way of it. I don't think the moral was literally that waiting in line can be fun, but it almost made a case for it.
One of my favorite bits was Jake being through the door, opening it up, calling Finn over, and then smacking the baddie. I also generally don't love stories where someone just goes through a portal into another dimension, because it can feel like a cop-out and make things too episodic in a way where that place never has to matter again. But I was fine with it here, especially because the episode ends on a cliffhanger and we don't really know what's going to happen next.
SPOILER ALERT:
The reveal that it was Marceline and not her dad was a great plot twist. We also don't really know what Marceline was doing there, which makes the cliffhanger even more interesting.
