Summary — A promising adventure with a likable Lara Croft that becomes increasingly boring once the island villain is introduced.
I had mixed feelings about Tomb Raider. The first part of the movie was surprisingly good and kept me engaged, especially as Lara set out on her adventure. Alicia Vikander was a strong choice for Lara Croft and did a good job carrying the film.
The movie started losing me once Lara reached the island and the main villain was introduced. From that point on, the story became much less interesting and the pacing slowed down considerably. What had been an exciting adventure gradually turned into something I struggled to stay invested in, and by the end I had a hard time finishing the movie.
I still liked Lara as a character, and Vikander's performance was enough to keep me watching, but the second half never lived up to the promise of the beginning. Overall, Tomb Raider starts strong but becomes increasingly boring as it goes on.
